PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) is concerned with the education of the whole child, developing in them the skills and understanding needed so that they may learn to value themselves as unique human beings, capable of spiritual, moral, intellectual and physical growth and development.
At the Oratory Prep School, we aim to promote this through a whole school approach. We offer a comprehensive classroom based programme of PSHE and Citizenship lessons in which we aim to foster the values and beliefs of our Catholic school and so influence the individual in their relationships and respect for each other and the wider world.
PSHE offers learning opportunities across and beyond the curriculum, it is taught in specific lessons, which extends the role of the teacher into that of a facilitator, enabling children to learn about themselves and develop their respect for each other through their interactions.
In addition to this, PSHE is further supported by Assemblies, tutor groups and other activities which enrich the pupils’ experiences such as speakers from outside agencies and charities who deliver age specific workshops.
