The space in the school more usually reserved for dodgeball and gymnastics was transformed into an art gallery, with walls and tables covered in wonderfully coloured pupils’ artwork. Every child in the school had something on display, from painted owls, peg dolls and brightly coloured washing in the Nursery and PrePrep section, to oil pastel drawings of flowers and fruit, ceramic frogs, felt making and digital portraits from the Prep. The wall bars were festooned with Year 8s’ silk painted ties, hats from Year 3 and Aboriginal rainmakers from Year 4. Even the PE cupboard was put to good use as a useful black out space for the exciting kinetic collages created by year 6 in a recent art workshop. The first ‘OPS Evening of Culture’ saw parents and pupils enjoying the exhibition with drinks and canapés served by members of the Mary Poppins cast, before heading upstairs to the theatre for the wonderful Mary Poppins production itself.
