The Oratory Schools Association welcomes new Chairman of Governors and two new members

The Oratory Preparatory School and The Oratory School (The Oratory Schools Association), has announced a new Chairman of Governors and two new additions to the board.

Mr Matthew Stilwell has replaced Dr Christina Hill Williams following her decision to step down after 2 years in the chair.

While chairing the board, Christina worked tirelessly to introduce many initiatives such as introducing link governors to assist in various areas of the schools and being a force behind the inception of the Friends of the Oratory School. The Association thanks her for her hard work and dedication and is pleased that she will still remain a governor.

Mr Stilwell, who has been a governor of The Oratory Schools Association since 1998, has a background in the Royal Air Force. After leaving the Oratory, he later transferred to the Army via the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. Since leaving the Army he has followed a business career in the IT sector.  The school is very pleased to appoint him as the new Chairman.

He said: “It is thrilling to become Chairman of The Oratory School and The Oratory Preparatory School, two thriving and happy schools. The infectious enthusiasm and sheer quality of teaching prepares our pupils so well for their next exciting step. We are very fortunate to have two excellent Headmasters at the helm and as a close knit team we will continue to evolve our founder's vision of excellence in teaching and family values.”

In addition to this, the school welcomes Mr Jonathan Hobbs, Managing Director of Hobbs of Henley. An Old Oratorian, he is involved with many different charities and organisations and will bring valuable commercial skills as well as local knowledge to the board.

He commented: “I’m delighted to be appointed a Governor of The Oratory Schools Association. My seven years at The Oratory School hold special memories for me and I’m looking forward to joining a progressive Board at an exciting time in the Schools’ development”.

Rev Daniel Seward has also joined the board. Fr Daniel is provost of the Oxford Oratory; his appointment continues the important and valued link between the schools and the Oratory Fathers. He is a regular visitor to the Oratory as a priest and confessor.

He said: "I am delighted to be appointed as a Governor of The Oratory Schools Association continuing the connection between the Oratory of St Philip Neri and the Schools which Blessed John Henry Newman founded. I hope to help in bringing Newman's vision of Catholic education to reality in the twenty-first century."

The Oratory Schools Association looks forward to another exciting and successful academic year for our pupils.
