Pre-Prep Department

WELCOME

The Oratory Pre-Prep is characterized by the happiness and success of its pupils and enjoys a well-deserved reputation as a school that offers a wide, up-to-date exciting curriculum within a caring, ordered and friendly environment.
We promote a holistic education where the spiritual, moral, social, physical and creative aspects of a child’s development are nurtured as well as the cognitive.

There is a strong family ethos in this school, and we aim to work together as a team, parents, children and teachers, to ensure that every child has the best possible start in school.

Our setting allows children to discover the excitement of learning, the rewards of achievement and the ability to acquire life skills. With its bright, colourful, well-planned and busy environment, we also encourage children in the development of skills, attitude and understanding that will help them to become confident, active members of a diverse and constantly changing society.

Differentiation
Our classes are small, friendly and well supported by experienced staff. Every child is different and special, and they need help, guidance and encouragement, in an infinite variety of ways, as their talents develop.

The children work in a variety of groups, large and small, with children of similar ability in English and Maths. The groups vary according to the task and the needs of the children.

Assessment
The purpose of assessment is to monitor the progress of individual children throughout their time in the Pre-Prep. Children are assessed annually using standardized tests, the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile and half-termly teacher assessments to gauge understanding in English and Math’s.
Assessment is made across a range of contexts in order to build up a reliable picture of progress, plus information from regular meetings with parents.

The Oratory Pre Prep is a wonderful place for children to start their education.
