PSHE and Citizenship
PSHE and citizenship, known as PSE in the school, is concerned with the education of the whole child, developing in them the skills and understanding needed so that they may learn to value themselves as unique human beings, capable of spiritual, moral, intellectual and physical growth and development.
At the Oratory Prep School, we aim to promote this development through a whole school approach of which the tutor system plays a major role. Through the PSE programme we would hope to foster the values and beliefs of our Catholic school and so influence the individual in their relationship with each other and the wider world. PSE offers learning opportunities across and beyond the curriculum, in specific lessons as well as in assemblies, tutor groups, circle time and other activities that enrich pupils' experiences. Circle time may be central to the delivery of the social and moral elements of PSHE and Citizenship. It extends the role of the teacher to that of a facilitator, enabling children to learn about themselves and through their interactions with others.
