WELCOME TO THE ORATORY PREP SCHOOL

Welcome to The Oratory Prep School. We are a busy, happy school where children are at the centre of everything. With 65 acres of space and outstanding facilities, there’s space to learn and room to grow. We believe in setting high standards, but always with the right support. Pupils are known and encouraged as individuals. Learning here is purposeful, challenging and fun. From the classroom to the stage, the forest school to the swimming pool, we want children to enjoy every day and feel proud of what they achieve. Because we’re a school for ages 2 to 13, our pupils grow up in a setting that feels like home and where children can be children for longer. Our older pupils lead with kindness and set the tone for a community built on encouragement and care. They leave us confident, curious and ready for what’s next.

EXPERIENCE

We make the most of real-world learning. Trips and residentials are woven through the year groups. These shared experiences help children build friendships, develop resilience and apply their learning in different contexts.

As a boarding school we welcome pupils from all over the world which means our pupils connect with cultures beyond their own. They are encouraged to think outwardly and engage with the world around them, learning to question, reflect and contribute with empathy.

Co-curricular life is full and varied, with clubs and activities running before, during and after school. Every pupil is encouraged to try something new and follow their interests.

We know that confidence in learning often comes from feeling secure, understood and supported. Small class sizes, specialist teaching and strong relationships mean we can stretch, support and challenge your children as individuals. Our curriculum is ambitious, broad and carefully sequenced giving pupils the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.

Excellent teaching sits at the heart of everything we do. Lessons are purposeful and engaging with plenty of scope for discussion, collaboration and creativity. Pupils are encouraged to reflect on their progress and take ownership of their learning.

Community is more than just a word at The Oratory Prep School – it is something you feel from the moment you arrive. There is a strong sense of belonging, built over time through shared routines and the way everyone is known and valued.

Parents are a vital part of school life too and there are many ways to get involved. We work closely with families to help support and celebrate your child’s progress.

Boarding adds another layer to our community. Pupils from Year 3 upwards can board weekly or flexibly, depending on what suits your family. Even a single night of boarding can help build independence and the boarding house has a warmth and rhythm all of its own.

At Little Oaks Nursery, we’re all about nurturing young explorers in a warm, friendly environment where curiosity and discovery come to life.

Nestled in the heart of The Oratory Prep School’s beautiful 65-acre campus, Little Oaks gives children (ages 2-4) the perfect place to begin their learning journey.

Pupils participate in Sparkling Starts that ignite curiosity at the beginning of topics and Phenomenal Finishes, where they proudly present their learning to their parents and peers.

In Prep, pupils become ambitious and independent learners, immersed in a skills-based, interconnected curriculum, meaningful and highly relevant to their everyday experiences and life beyond school.

We enable our children to make connections across subjects and think more deeply about their significance, applying their learning across different contexts and developing core, transferable skills, such as critical thinking and strong reasoning skills.
