At The Oratory Prep School, we believe that fresh air, exploration and hands-on experiences are essential to a child’s early development. With 65 acres of South Oxfordshire countryside on our doorstep, outdoor learning is part of everyday life at Little Oaks – and trust us, our little ones certainly get their step count in!
Every day brings new opportunities to discover something different. Children build dens, hunt for minibeasts, splash through puddles, climb, balance, collect natural treasures and watch the changing seasons unfold around them. Time outdoors sparks curiosity, encourages imagination and helps children make sense of the world in a way that simply can’t be replicated indoors.
Outdoor learning also plays an important role in developing confidence and resilience. Children learn to work together, assess risks, solve problems and become increasingly independent, all while enjoying the freedom that comes with having so much space to explore.
As part of The Oratory Prep School, Little Oaks children enjoy regular Forest School sessions led by experienced staff, as well as access to the exceptional grounds and facilities that make every day an adventure.
We don’t see outdoor learning as a break from education. It’s where some of the richest learning happens.
