At our Little Oaks Nursery we are proud to use the Supersonic Phonics program, a dynamic and engaging approach to teaching early literacy. This carefully structured system supports children as they take their first steps in recognising, reading, and writing letters and sounds.
We begin by helping children identify the letters in their own names which provides a meaningful and personal starting point. This connection sparks curiosity and excitement about letters and words, laying the foundation for phonics learning.
As their confidence grows, we introduce activities that encourage them to write letters independently. To support this process, we provide dotted outlines for children to trace. This approach helps them develop fine motor skills, improve hand-eye coordination, and build muscle memory for forming letters correctly.
Through Supersonic Phonics, our children are not only learning the building blocks of reading and writing but also developing a lifelong love of language.
You can support this learning at home by pointing out and indentifying letters in everyday environments, such as on signs, packaging or books and encouraging your child to practice writing their name. Together, we can ensure every child has the tools they need to grow into confident readers and writers!
