At The Oratory Prep School, we are committed to nurturing the unique potential of each pupil which underscores our dedication to providing an inclusive and supportive environment where every pupil can thrive academically and personally.
Recognising that pupils may face diverse challenges during their academic journey, our dedicated Learning Support team proactively identifies and addresses individual learning needs. Our goal is to empower every pupil to achieve their fullest potential by fostering self-confidence, which is essential for long-term success.
Our department boasts three qualified specialists experienced in teaching children with specific learning difficulties. Depending on individual requirements, pupils may receive one-on-one lessons once or twice a week. We carefully schedule these sessions to ensure that core lessons remain uninterrupted, minimising any impact on mainstream classes.
When concerns arise regarding a pupil’s progress or comprehension, our staff initiate a thorough evaluation process. This may involve classroom observations and assessments conducted by the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo). Based on the findings, we develop a customised support plan, which may include in-class assistance, one-on-one lessons, or recommendations for further evaluation by external professionals. In cases where specialist assessments are conducted, we create Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) in collaboration with parents and share them with teaching staff to ensure cohesive support.
We believe that parental involvement is crucial to a child’s educational success and we have an open door policy to discuss your child’s progress and explore strategies for reinforcement at home. Regular reports and open communication channels ensure that parents remain informed and actively engaged in your child’s development.
