Year 6 have been looking at Pop Art and one of the sculptors they have been studying is Claes Oldenburg. Taking inspiration from his concepts and looking at everyday objects, they have enjoyed working collaboratively to build their own interpretations.
Year 6 working on, and sharing their Javenese gamelan inspired compositions based on notes of the ‘slendro’ pentatonic scale using boomwhackers!

In Drama lessons, Year 5 have been focusing on group performance poetry. Closely linked with their English syllabus, here they are rehearsing poems by heart, sharpening and practising their poetry performance skills including confidence, projection, tone of voice and annunciation.
Year 2 have visited Windsor Castle as their Sparkling Start to this term’s theme of Castles and Knights. They were even in time for the changing of the guard!

Our themes in Junior Prep begin with a ‘Sparkling Start,’ piquing the children’s curiosity and desire to learn more. After introducing our story of Little Red Riding Hood the children enjoyed looking for characters from the story in a woodland full of magical fairy doors and toadstools.
Pupils have been reading the part of the book when Old Man Willow (an evil tree) casts a spell on the hobbits and swallows them within its branches.
Year 6 coding the new WeDo 2.0 Lego robots! Many thanks to OPPA for purchasing these for the computing department. We look forward to producing the next contestants for Channel 4’s Lego Masters!
