Prep Sport

Sport is at the heart of our commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals. Our inclusive and ambitious sports programme ensures every child has the opportunity to thrive, improve and achieve both on and off the field.

With outstanding facilities and expert coaching, we offer a broad range of mainstream sports alongside strong opportunities in second-tier sports such as tennis, swimming, cross country, badminton, and athletics.

Team spirit, inclusivity, opportunity and sportsmanship are central to our approach. From inter-house competitions to inter-school fixtures and regional and national competitions, we instill the values of respect, camaraderie and dedication in every game and training session. During the Michaelmas Term, the girls focus on hockey while the boys play both contact and touch rugby. In the Lent Term, we begin with mixed football before transitioning to separate boys’ and girls’ teams for the second half of the term. In the Trinity Term, we play cricket in mixed teams. We compete regularly in IAPS tournaments, where we enjoy notable success.

Swimming is a year-round activity with pupils regularly competing in galas against local schools. Our pupils compete throughout the year in a wide variety of other sports, including tennis, athletics and cross country. Our commitment to sport extends beyond regular lessons through our specialised sporting sessions, a key element of our focused scholarship programme. Starting in Year 5 and continuing until Year 8, this programme prepares many of our pupils to earn prestigious sports scholarships at senior schools. We offer individual and group coaching in Senior Prep to talented athletes.
