School Visits & Admissions
While the Oratory Prep School is closed following Government advice, unfortunately it will not be possible to visit us in person. However, you are most welcome to contact our Registrar, Cordelia Atkinson at email@example.com who would be delighted to answer your admissions queries and support you applying for a place for your child in September 2020 and beyond, including organising virtual meetings with the Headmaster and Senior staff.
The Oratory Prep School is a Catholic school which welcomes children from the age of 2-13 of all faiths. Parents should register for a place which is offered on a strictly ‘first come first serve’ basis. The registration fee is a non-refundable £50. If a place is offered a deposit of £600 will secure your child’s place (this is deducted from the final bill).
Children will have an informal assessment before being offered a place at the Oratory Prep School. We find this process mutually beneficial; it allows us to find out more about your child before they start at the school, and enables us to find the class that is right for them. It also allows your child to experience life at the OPS and begin to meet their new friends. We invite our families to bring their children to the school for a morning on a day convenient to them.
We would ask you to drop your children off at the school at around 9am with a copy of their latest school report. Your child will spend about an hour with a classroom teacher being assessed on their reading, writing, comprehension and maths. This process is very informal and carried out in such a way that your child will not know they are being assessed.
After their assessment, they will be assigned a class buddy and spend the morning with their peers in the classroom. Children are then ready for collection at 12pm or they can stay for lunch and a play.
